The story of a wannabe writer…

(This was supposed to be posted last week)

Sometime last week, Wednesday to be exact, I was excited to be a writer for this company in Makati. I went there around 4:30pm for the exam and interview. I passed the exam, now just waiting for the interview. Having all my hopes up, I began picturing myself working there. The HR Associate went up to me to escort me to the interviewer’s cubicle. This is it!

The interview went well…except for one thing.. here’s an excerpt of the interview:

“So you want to be a writer…our company’s main business is creating and maintaining company websites, that’s the mainstream business.”

“So what’s the other business?”

“Adult entertainment. You will watch a porn movie and then create an overview and a review of that movie for our foreign clients. Can you write for our adult sites?”

My world crashed. All the images I pictured in my head became blurry.

“I can’t..I don’t…I can’t..I don’t write porn.”

“Why not?”

What?! Why not?! Well, for one you don’t need a college degree to do that! Second, what the hell will I write about? The star’s boobs? Or the man’s thing?!

“I don’t think I can write about that.”

 So the interviewer scheduled me for another set of exams the next day and an interview with their client based in the States. I never went back.

P.S. Their company website is very misleading. It did not say about adult entertainment! Plus, the job description is very very vague about the porn thing.

Lesson learned: Wag masyadong magpadala sa job description just because the company has a website!
